Welcome to Substack, Tyrone! I've had a writing site for a couple years now and I love the platform. I really love breathwork, but what I've been doing is much slower in and out than you are doing here. Is there an advantage to speeding the breathing up? Might have to practice to be able to complete this without getting lightheaded. 😂

Thanks Cathey, it's a pleasure to be here, what a great place for creativity. And love to hear that about the breathwork, what kind of breathwork have you been doing?

And the benefit to speeding up the breathing is activating the sympathetic nervous system which prepares the body for high-intensity situations. When activated, it increases heart rate, dilates pupils, and diverts energy toward essential functions—wonderful for sprinting away from danger but less ideal for everyday stressors.

I think the key to holistic well-being is in balancing these two systems. While the sympathetic system helps us respond to immediate challenges, an overactivation can lead to stress and burnout. On the flip side, excessive parasympathetic activity can result in lethargy and lack of motivation. So it's in understanding how to transition smoothly from activation to relaxation that is crucial for our health.

I love breathwork practices that take me from the activation into relaxation to learn how to navigate between the two. The lightheaded-ness is natural and is from breathing out carbon dioxide faster than the body produces it. This makes the blood less acidic, which apparently causes a chemical alteration in nerve function that makes you feel light-headed. It can be relaxing sometimes but also peculiar haha.

Thanks for all this awesome information, Tyrone. It does help to understand what is happening in your body during the process of breathwork. I got some basic practices from Graham's friend Engel some time ago and I have kept up with them because they make me feel great and have improved my breathing capacity. I am ready to learn more, though, so I hope you will continue to share more! I'm going to try to work up to this exercise you led here.

Recently I had a severe asthma attack so I have become more conscious of my breathing throughout the day, taking moments to focus specifically on deeper inhales. Looking forward to learning different techniques.

Thats amazing to hear Linda! Conscious breathing and moments to focus on deeper inhales and exhales is wonderful. Longer exhalations will produce an even deeper relaxation response. Sounds like you are taking the time to stop and smell the roses 🌹 😊

Sensational Linda! Once a day is a great goal! We will dive deeper into some different somatic-based techniques that will help tune in to your breath even more. Simply becoming aware of how you're breathing throughout the day (slow and deep, shallow and short, fast, slow, from the chest or from the belly, etc.) is a great practice in itself!

Hey Tyrone! This imposter Tyrone tried to connect to me. It made me feel how much I would love to connect more to the real you and have a chance to chat. My $$$ is at a standstill right now, but I expect that to change soon and definitely want to upgrade to paid subscriber. Might you be doing occasional zoom calls for paid subscribers?

Thank you for this guided breath work Tyrone. I am a newbie here and so thankful to be here at this time.

At the last ‘out breath’ I experienced an intense upward rush of emotions that brought me to sobbing tears. I feel much lighter and observe it as a release of stored emotions that found a much needed outlet through this exercise. To be honest I was a bit skeptical and fearful to start this exercise; as of late, I have been experiencing severe panic attacks and when I read in the comments that this stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, I feared it would trigger an episode but I decided to do it anyways and to my relief it is quite the opposite. I am deeply thankful and feeling hopeful in this moment as my intention is to get off medication, explore new ways to cope, and overcome these obstacles from a holistic and spiritual standpoint that aligns more to my beliefs.

I truly look forward to more practice, wisdom, breath-work and meditations to come. Also is it safe to practice breath-work daily or multiple times a day? Thank you.

Hi Tyrone. I was talking to a friend today... a young man who is dealing with severe sleep apnea. It's causes sleep deprivation, exhaustion and he feels hung over in the morning even though he quit drinking.

He is getting very frustrated with the health care system and I thought of you and your alternate modalities.

I sent him your breath work video from Substack. Not sure if you've worked with anyone with sleep apnea.

If he is interested in in seeing if you have some thoughts on helping him, what would be the best way to put him in touch with you.

Thanks and blessings

Karen

Tyrone, I got a request for a chat with you on substack. Since I don't know if it is a scammer, I rejected the request. But if it was you, please answer me this way, so I'm sure it's OK. Thanks for helping me out with this.🙏☀️

It's definitely a scammer. If it didn't come from this (my only account on substack), it's not me. Good on you for catching it!

Tyrone…just received the one month subscription and thank you very much. Cathey Cone introduced me to your Substack account. Interesting this breathing exercise seemed to help my sinus pressure and as I was inhaling I noticed that the air flow in my left nostril was not as free flowing as my right. As I approached the 30 breath part of the exercise I could feel that my left nostril was clearer. Amazing. I will definitely do this again. I was so blessed to have met you at Graham’s Farewell event and I will cherish the picture with you for many years. Thanks for being so approachable and making me feel so comfortable when chatting with you. Blessings.🙏

Danny! It was a pleasure meeting you in person! I’m so glad to hear that you received the subscription and that you found the breathwork exercise helpful for your sinus pressure! It's fascinating how our breath can influence our physical state. I'm going to be sharing more about that more extensively on here soon.

I love that you noticed a difference in your nostrils—such a powerful reminder of how interconnected our body systems are. It was truly a blessing to meet you at Graham's Farewell event, and I appreciate your kind words. Looking forward to hearing more about your breathwork journey! Sending you blessings and BIG LOVE!!

Hi Tyron good to have you here on Substack. I didn’t realize at the time you do this in the morning. I tried it before my devotions tonight I wanted to relax before hand. Though I’m like Cathey a little lightheaded whoops. I will definitely try this in the morning from now on. I usually do my devotions in the am. We had a Motorcycle charity run for St Jude children Hospital and Battered women’s so we had to leave early this morning. We were out in such nice weather except got a small amount of rain while riding. Well I hope your day was awesome Blessings to you have a wonderful night.
